University of Siena Scholarship in Italy

As part of initiatives to increase the international attractiveness of its academic programmes, the University of Siena grants scholarships to honour distinguished international students and encourage their enrolment in certain master’s programmes (Lauree Magistrali).
For the 2025/2026 academic year, our university offers five international excellence scholarships from Siena, each with a value of EUR 6 000.00 per year (gross amount), for a period of one year, renewable for a second year (for a total of EUR 1 2000.00 over two years, gross amount).
Deadline for submission: 6 May 2025.
Who can apply?
This exclusive possibility is offered to persons who do not have Italian nationality and who have obtained their qualification of entry into institutions located outside Italy, underlining the University’s dedication to the promotion of an educational environment enriched by a variety of international points of view.
In order to be taken into account, applicants must, on pain of exclusion:
- Hold a non-Italian bachelor’s degree that allows admission to master’s degree programmes (Lauree Magistrali) in the Italian university system;
- Not to hold Italian citizenship, except for persons with a dual nationality that includes Italian;
- Do not reside in Italy. For the purposes of this call for applications, the following persons shall be deemed to be resident in Italy:
- Non-EU citizens holding a valid residence permit which allows registration at an Italian university without the need for a new student visa, in accordance with Italian Legislative Decree 286/1998;
- EU citizens and assimilated to those of the EU who have resided in Italy for more than 9 months. Citizens of Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, the Republic of San Marino and Switzerland are considered citizens of the EU.
- Have applied for one of the master’s programmes listed below, following the procedures and within the deadlines specified on the application.unisi.it platform. Applicants may apply for up to two programmes.
The two candidates awaiting evaluation and those who have already received confirmation of acceptance at one of the study programmes listed below (first or second admission) are eligible.
Which courses are eligible for the scholarship?
Scholarships are awarded to the most talented students admitted to some master's programmes entirely in English.
A fellowship is available for each of the following three areas:
Area of the economy and law, which includes the following master's programmes:
- EconomicsÉconomie
- Finance
- International accounting and management
Sectoral, international, social and cognitive sciences, which includes the following master's programmes:
- Language and mind: linguistic and cognitive studies
- Public and cultural diplomacy
- Scienze Internazionali (programme: European studies)
Field of biomedical and medical sciences, which includes the following master's programmes:
- Biotechnology of human reproduction
- Medical biotechnology
Two fellowships are available for two different courses in the following area:
Field of Mathematical and Experimental Sciences, which includes the following master's programmes:
- Applied mathematics
- Artificial intelligence and automation
- Biodiversity, conservation and environmental quality
- Chemistry
- Electronic engineering and communications
- Engineering management
- Sustainable industrial pharmaceutical biotechnology

IMPORTANT: Please read the following carefully.

The application for a scholarship is included in the list for the school year 2025-2026, under the section “Scholarships”.
Only applications from candidates who have already applied for admission to at least one of the courses listed above will be considered. If a candidate has applied for two courses, only one application for a scholarship is sufficient.
A non-reimbursable fee of 10 Euro is required to submit the scholarship application. Payment instructions will be sent to you by e-mail using the same procedure as for applications for applications.
